Signage
Signs, ranging in size from this A4 (letter paper) size lion to the (3 m × 6 m) Isibonelo sign, are possible using the range of techniques developed. These include laser engraving and CNC cutting.
These techniques can reproduce any black and white photograph, are ideal for animals, birds. For logos, the size limitation is at present 700 × 400 mm, but new equipment is “on the water”, and 2440 × 1220 mm will soon be possible.
The accuracy of the “photo tiles”, or fascia panels, will enable them to be butted together to create large montages, to cover plain concrete, spalling brickwork, etc. Weatherproof advertising that travels with a show to its next venue would be possible.
This American Icon is aggregate exposed by a photo retarding process, developed by Intaglio Composites of Texas, on textile concrete plates developed in South Africa. The plates are 3/8 inch (10 mm) thick, and weigh 24 kg/m2 / 5 lb/ft2.
Concrete products can be delivered over a relatively short radial distance: halve the mass, the area serviced goes up by the square of the radius. Offer a unique product and the distance no longer matters.
